Fred Wondergem (IFF) elected new AMFEP's President

AMFEP has elected Fred Wondergem from IFF as its new President. He succeeds Marianne Dessen-Mugniot from AB Enzymes who had been President of the Executive Committee for the last 2 years.

Fred Wondergem is Director Global Regulatory Affairs at IFF. He started over 20 years ago at Genencor International, which merged subsequently into Danisco, DuPont and now IFF.

At these companies, Fred progressively advanced his regulatory career, from individual contributor to team leader, then leveraging his regulatory knowledge to R&D projects, and now at his current role in Regulatory Science & Advocacy. Next to (food) enzymes, he is also supporting other biotechnology areas of the broader IFF portfolio.

Fred has been a member of the FOC since 2000, joined the FOC leadership team in 2019, and became ExC member in 2017, and Treasurer since 2021. During this time span he has been member of several working groups and task forces, and most notably been involved with the development and implementation of FIAP from the early days back in 2006.

After graduating in Medical Biology at the Utrecht University, he first got acquainted with the regulatory world in the early 1990’s at the RIVM (Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment) evaluating toxicological dossiers for pharmaceuticals in the Netherlands and the EU. Building on that experience, he switched to the ‘other side’ and joined the Centocor Regulatory Affairs team (acquired by Johnson & Johnson in that period), contributing to the EU launch of an important monoclonal antibody.

Additional to the President, AMFEP elected a new Executive Committee consisting in Henk Aalten (dsm-firmenich,) Stefan Fischer (BASF - Treasurer)‎, Jacques Georis ‎‎(KERRY), Svend Laulund (CHR. HANSEN), Marc Leclerc (NOVOZYMES), Sofia Morais (PURATOS) and Stefaan Vandaele (ENZYBEL – Vice President).
